Why can’t adults have a party?
Maria, having booked Curious Families UK for her kids’ parties year after year, contacted us to ask if we could do an adult birthday party.
Well yes of course we can!
“Only thing is, I’m quite specific about what I want,
I just don’t know how to pull it off – can you help?”
So, delving into the late 1800s, we designed Maria an interactive party with a Steam Punk vibe.
We designed the games – a disgusting raffle full of Victorian diseases, a learn how to play poker table, a game of Who Am I - all to be MC’d by comedian Alex Baldacci, playing a ringmaster modelled on Martyn Jacques of The Tiger Lilies.
The guests were greeted by a local, slightly grubby, not-to-be-trusted Tosher, accompanied by her team of Tricksters (all the teenagers). Each guest got a bag of shillings on arrival, drinks and food vouchers, and a short intro on how to invest their cash wisely in a range of games. Van Gogh was offering portraits, the tricksters were trying to make as much money as they could with dares and tricks, and the ringmaster was teaching poker from scratch in the back corner.
The evening flowed with constant interaction, but enough time and space to sink a cocktail and a burger, before the chime of 9pm when the audience gathered for Who Am I and the dirtiest raffle known to man.
Lot 1: Instant Cholera Cordial 1893 or Lot 5: A Jar of Buboes. All disgusting, yet the punters were desperate for their number to be called!
